CPAP Hat Instructions
The key to creating a secure fit is to first choose the proper size hat for the infant. LOLA offers newborn, long newborn, preemie and short preemie sizes. Once the proper size is chosen, care must be taken not to over stretch the hat out while putting it on the infant’s head. Keep in mind the hat is the anchor for the prongs and a loose-fitting hat will allow movement of the head to potentially dislodge the prongs.
- Place the hat on the infant’s head. If the hat is too long, use an umbilical cord tie to secure the hat at the point of proper fit.
- Choose two channels that best correspond to the length of the prongs. Slide a finger up through each of the chosen channels and guide the tubing down through the channel.
- Connect the end of each tubing to the elbows at the end of the prongs.
- Place prongs in the infant’s nares.
